Jay Leno’s chin feels snubbed by NBC

In the wake of Jay Leno handing over the reins of the Tonight Show to Conan O’Brien, backstage resentment from Jay Leno’s chin over the choice of successor has begun to reveal itself.   Rumors have been circulating that Leno’s chin privately felt that he was the better choice since NBC announced O’Brien would take over for Leno, but those feelings have only recently been made public.

“I wish Conan nothing but the best,” says Leno’s chin in an interview granted exclusively to The Moldy Cheese. “But I really feel I was the better man for the job.” Leno’s chin had apparently been lobbying NBC brass daily for the job and had the blessing of Jay Leno himself, but in the end NBC opted for O’Brien.  “I had 17 years experience on the Tonight Show and would have brought a lot of energy and life as host had they chosen me.  I was devastated by their choice,” says Leno’s chin.

While most only know Leno’s chin from the Tonight Show, he has a vast and very successful background on the stand-up circuit, as well as in comedy writing.  “I’ve written for everyone,” says Leno’s chin.  “Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock. You name them I’ve written for them.”   Leno’s chin is widely considered in the industry as a very talented performer and many have said off the record that he would’ve been a better choice.

“We wish Jay Leno’s chin nothing but the best,” says NBC President Jeff Zucker. “He is a remarkable talent and I’m sure he will land on his feet.”

So what does the future hold for Jay Leno’s chin?  “I’ve been taking some meetings and have some things in the works,” he says. “I’m working on a book and I’m going to get back out on the road and do some stand up again. Hopefully you’ll see me on television again soon.”
